How far things actually are
Distances here are deceptive because the roads go around the lake and the hills rather than through them. Dalaman airport is roughly 25 to 30 kilometres away but a comfortable half hour; Marmaris is considerably further than the map suggests.
How to choose between them
The land days differ mostly in what they ask of you. The jeep safari is the shortest and the roughest, and it suits people who do not mind dust and want the villages behind the delta. Saklikent is a gorge day with cold water and a long drive. Pamukkale is the longest day anyone does from here, and it is a once trip rather than a holiday habit.
If you have three days in Dalyan, spend two of them on the water and one on land. If you have a week, the order matters less than the weather: keep the land day for the windy morning that would have spoiled a boat.
